Holy guilty pleasures, Batman! In honour of Filmophilia’s Comic Book Movie month and the fast approaching release of Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises, today’s guilty pleasure takes us all the way back to 1966. It was a more innocent time. A time where superheroes could be played by doughy middle-aged men and the word gritty just meant something containing sand. Batman: The Movie opened in-between the first and second season of the successful TV series with Adam West (or Mayor Adam West as he’s best known these days) as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin. Retaining the look and feel of the original comic strip this brightly coloured, daytime Batman was a far cry from later incarnations.
